A R C O S A N T I
In 1970, italian-born architect Paolo Soleri broke ground for an experimental city that would become the model of his most-grand visions of a smarter, more-complex urban project. arcosanti rests 65 miles north of Phoenix in Arizona high grasslands. In practice, arcosanti strives to fully exemplify the theory of “arcology”, a term soleri coined to embody the synthesis of architecture and ecology. Furthermore, the site is still yet unfinished, constantly in construction, continuing to evolve to this day.
In October 2018 I lived on-site for five weeks as one of the thousands of past workshoppers who have built the city with their two hands.
